The Māmā & Pēpi Programme is a Kaupapa Māori service supporting women who are embracing Tikanga Māori values. We provide wraparound support during pregnancy and until your child turns five. This includes:
Antenatal and postnatal careTamariki Ora visits
Well Child and B4 School Checks
Immunisations
Safe sleep support (Wahakura)
Outreach care
Referrals to Early Childhood Education
Nourished for Nil and Cosy Kids access
Home visits by kaiāwhina to assist with any questions, decisions, or challenges
This programme is open to Māori and Pacific women of all ages who are hapū.
You can join our programme through referral by a midwife, nurse, GP — or refer yourself. After registration, our kaiāwhina (support worker) will meet with you to understand your needs. You can exit the programme anytime before your child turns five. We’re here to support whānau by connecting you with trusted services, providing health/social guidance, and helping you navigate parenting confidently.
Our free Hapū Māmā classes are designed to prepare you for birth and motherhood in a supportive, kaupapa Māori environment.

Mirimiri for hapū māmā

Smoking cessation help
Referrals to contraception or cervical screening if needed
All services are free if you meet one or more of the following criteria:
You are not enrolled with a GP
You live in a Quintile 5 area
You hold a Community Services Card
You are of Māori or Pacific descent
If you don’t qualify for free care, the following charges apply:
Nurse Appointment – $20
GP Appointment – $50
Jadelle Insert/Removal – $100
IUD/Mirena Insert/Removal – $150
EMA (Early Medical Abortion) – $250
Mirimiri Classes – $30
ACC-related appointments – Free
